  • Dr. Steven M Aubry , DVM


    A 1978 graduate of Michigan State University, Dr Aubry joined Brighton Animal Hospital in 1981 and is also a co-owner.  His expertise helps fulfill each pet's unique dentistry needs.  In his spare time, he enjoys skiiing with his family, and is an avid fan of MSU Spartan football and basketball

  • Dr. Katherine M Lawrence , DVM


    Practicing at Brighton Animal Hospital since 1974, Dr. Lawrence is a co-owner.  Since earning her degree from Michigan State University, surgery and diagnostic medicine have become her forte.  She is active in the community and is a member of the Brighton Chamber and the Brighton Rotary Club. Her personal interests include dance, music, travel and time with her husband Ed and family.  Also at home are her cats, Miss Kitty and Fritz; Dewey the pug and Lucie the German Shepherd.

  • Dr. Christine Lee , DVM


    Dr. Lee is a graduate of Michigan State University and has been with Brighton Animal Hospital since 1986.  She served the LCVMA for 15 years in a variety of capacities.  On the job, Dr. Lee has an interest in internal medicine.  Her outside interests include opera and Tiger baseball.

  • Dr. Rebecca Balavitch , DVM


    Dr. Balavitch graduated in 1993 from Michigan State University. She first joined our staff for occasional relief assignments in  2004, then decided to "make it official" in April 2007. She has an interest in behavior medicine and dental health and especially enjoys caring for pets who are considered family members . Dr. Balavitch has a daughter, Elena, born in 2006 and 2 cats, Icarus, 10 and Atticus, 4. The four of them share their home with her rock-star husband, Mike. In their former life, the Balavitches enjoyed rustic camping and birding, but with a baby around they stick to stroller walks, art fairs and sneak away for the occasional concert. Dr. B and Elena are graced with frequent at-home performances by "Daddy's band" when they come over to practice!Vetsuite_Img_29703

     Dr. Ebling has worked in the surrounding area for the past 11 years and started working part-time for Brighton Animal Hospital in 2004.  His special interests in veterinary medicine include general medicine, surgery, pain management and sporting dogs.  Dr. Ebling lives in Dansville with his English Setter, "Copper."  His hobbies include camping, canoeing and cooking.

  • Jan Aubry


     

    Jan joined Brighton Animal Hospital in 1993 after her youngest child started school.  She has a B.S., MA in education from MSU.  Jan previously had been a teacher.  Gradually she has accepted more responsibility at the hospital and is now working full time.  Teaching is still a big part of the job with hiring and training as well as client education.  The 3 Aubry children have all worked at the animal hospital while in high school and are now pursuing personal goals.  The Aubry family pets include 2 Bichon Frise, Petunia and Phoebe.

  • Deanne


    Deanne has an associate of science degree and 11 years of customer service experience.  Her favorite part of the job is working with clients and puppies.  Her hobbies include being with her kids, reading, gardening and downhill skiing.  She and her husband Chuck have 2 boys, Max who is 5 and Chase who is 7.  They also have 2 dogs, a Lab mix named Snoopy and a Labrador named Hope.

    Elisabeth has been with Brighton Animal Hospital since 1997.  She began in veterinary medicine in 1984.  Elizabeth graduated from Wayne County Community College as a licensed veterinary technician in 1992.  She has a special interest in client education, particularly in animal behavior and training.  Her outside interests include spending time with her family and participating in her children's numerous activities.  Elisabeth and her husband have 2 children and a dog named Zena.     Beth graduated from the A.A.S. Veterinary Technology from Baker College in Flint.  Her favorite part of her job is client interaction, lab duties and animal nursing care.  Her outside interests include reading, organizing, outdoor activities and spending time with her friends and family.  She and her long time boyfriend Brian have a step-son Mathew who is 12 and 6 cats (Moochie, Priscilla, Harry, Crookshanks, Seven and Peanut.) They also have a dog and many farm animals.

    Becky has been with Brighton Animal Hospital since 1998.  She enjoys working in surgery as well as client education.  Her outside interests include spending time with her family, traveling and enjoying the outdoors.  Becky and her husband have 2 children, Kaitlyn and Tyler.  She has a dog, Shayla,  3 cats named Sabre, Blizzard and Cleo, 2 frogs, lots of fish and her latest addition is a puppy named Jasmine.

    Heather has been with Brighton Animal Hospital since 2002.  Her favorite part of her job is doing labwork and surgery.  Her hobbies include painting, drawing, scrapbooking, reading and cleaning/organizing.  She has 3 cats named Stewart, Bubba and T.J.  She also has 2 lizards and 3 goldfish.

     Louise's favorite aspects of being in veterinary medicine are helping the doctors treat animals and being an expert handler to help keep animals calm when receiving treatments.  Louise has 2 dogs, 2 cats as well as 2 grown daughters and a husband.  Louise says, "she has worked at Brighton Animal Hospital so long, she can't imagine working anywhere else!"

    Sharon worked for 5 years in nursing, after attending Wayne State University before entering into the Veterinary field in 1988. Sharon joined Brighton Animal Hospital in 2002 and likes working with clients to educate them on healthcare for their pet so they can make well informed decisions.  She strives to be someone clients can trust to help them make healthcare decisions for that special family member.  In her free time, Sharon enjoys cooking, gardening, swimming and travel.  Sharon has 2 wonderful little girls named Katie and Jenna.  Her four legged children include 4 Labrador Retrievers named Willie, Allie, Hanna & Jory, 1 cat named Chessy, a cockatiel named Buddy, a rabbit named Lucky and a guinea pig named Chucky.  She also runs a Labrador Retriever rescue program.

    Julie received a B.S. in Zoology at MSU and has recently graduated from Irene's myomassology Institute.  Julie's best part about her job is client education and encouraging clients to take an active part in their pet's healthcare.  Her hobbies include working with wildlife.  She would like to be involved with wildlife education and rehabilitation.  Julie has 2 cats named Motor and Callie.

    Kathy recently graduated from Wayne State's veterinary technology program.  What Kathy loves about her job is getting to see so many great animals and talking with their wonderful owners.  Her hobbies include downhill skiing, riding her motorcycle, and she is learning to knit with the help of her aunt.  Kathy has 4 cats, Haku & Zeniba are both siamese, Veruca the grey kitty & Pickle the tabby. Beau is her loveable mini-lop rabbit (she is mommy's princess!) and her little dog Veda.  Kathy is currently attending school to be a veterinary technician at Wayne, and loving the program there!

     Kevin started working at Brighton Animal Hospital in 2003.  His favorite parts of his job are client education, technical duties such as blood draws, IV catheters, cystocentesis, radiology and learning new things.  Kevin's hobbies include hunting, fishing, backpacking, canoeing, falconry or anything outdoors.  Kevin has 1 dog, a Newfoundland named Jake, 3 cats named Hazmat, Hal and firefly and 2 rats.  When not working here Kevin is a firefighter for the city of Novi and just recently graduated from McClaren Hospital's Paramedic Program.

  • Kristen


        Kristen began her career in veterinary medicine in 1994.  She graduated from Macomb community College's veterinary technician program in 1997.  Prior to joining the team at Brighton Animal Hospital, Kristen worked at a veterinary dental specialist and she believes that good oral health is a vital role in the patients overall well being.  Kristen enjoys spending time with her family, which includes her 2 daughters, husband, Steve, and the family labradors, Daisy and Raven.   Kristen and her family are a breeding stock host home for Leader Dogs for the Blind.  Approximately every year, Raven has a litter of puppies who will go on to be Leader Dogs for the visually impaired.

  • Mama Kitty , Front Desk Supervisor


    Mama Kitty came to Brighton Animal Hospital in 2004 and came with 3 children.  Brighton Animal Hospital decided they loved her, so they were going to spay her and keep her, but they discovered that I was already pregnant.  A few weeks later I had 8 babies that were born on Friday the 13th (8/13/04)  They all went to great homes of staff family and patients.  She has many "work" hours of training in front desk responsiblities.  Her areas of expertise are harrassing the dogs and climbing into people's purses.  Her hobbies are drinking out of the faucet.  She has 11 (known) children.
