When can I insure my pet?
Most insurance companies allow you to insure your pet at any age, although Trupanion only accepts pets under the age of one. Also, the older the pet when you begin coverage, the more your premium will be. All companies have an exclusion period before providing coverage. This is a period of time, hours or days, before your insurance will begin. Usually it is a couple days for accident or injury claims and a couple weeks before illness claims are accepted. Make sure to ask about this when signing up your pet.
