The plans, premiums and deductibles
Each of the above companies have up to five different insurance plans. Basic coverage includes accidents, injuries and illness. Each company may have dirrent items included or excluded depending on the plan you have chosen. Many companies also offer a wellness plan which may cover vaccines, flea control, heartworm prevention, neutering and dental procedures. Some companies offer a variety of plans so you can customize your plan to fit your needs.
All of the above companies charge a monthly premium, a monthly fee to stay enrolled or covered in the plan you have chosen. The amount of the premium varies depending on your pet's coverage. Insurance companies also charge a deductible. This is a fee set by the company or chosen by you to pay out of pocket before the insurance begins paying. This fee can range from $0 to $1000 and is most likely set either per incident or per year. The higher your deductible, the lower your monthly premium. Another number to ask about are the limits. Often there is a limit on how much your insurance will pay either per incident, per year or per lifetime. This varies with each company.
